Frequently asked questions

What is this product?

CreoKit was developed with time starved teachers in mind. There is a wealth of information out there on STEAM and Makerspace. However the time needed to get a project ready can mean that Makerspace is put in the too hard basket. CreoKit gives you projects ready to go. They have been tested and proven to engage children. Our kits come with everything you need to run in depth, engaging STEAM lessons. They come with all materials, curriculum linked lesson plans, project links and supporting videos. Everything ready to go - open the box and learn!

Who can use these kits?

There are guidelines on the product pages to give you an idea of the suitable age range for each kit. If you have any questions please contact us for more information. They are perfect for home school parents, after school and holiday programs, classrooms, libraries as well as holiday activities and parties. Really they are perfect for any child who likes to tinker and learn through play.

What is STEM and STEAM?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. The only difference with STEM and STEAM is the inclusion of Art. By incorporating art into your makerspace program or classroom you allow children to think more creatively.

What is the difference between Makerspace and STEM?

A makerspace is a place where people come together to invent, create and learn together. STEAM concepts of Science, technology, engineering, art and maths are all at play in a makerspace. The two concepts go together as perfectly as ice cream and sprinkles! So our lessons and kits cover STEAM concepts in a makerspace environment. The kids thrive in an environment of experimenting, sharing ideas and problem solving to come up with new, exciting ideas and concepts.

Where can I purchase a kit for my school?

CreoKit can be purchased through your preferred supplier, either OfficeMax or Eeny Meeny.

What does each kit make?

Unlike other STEM kits on the market our kits don't make a single project. They have unlimited possibilities and it is up to the child to decide what they want to make. Our kits teach skills, provide a range of materials and guide the child to make projects that are exciting and relevant to them. For example our Circuits Mastered kit isn't a drone kit but it can be if that's what the child wants to make. Everything is there but to make a drone but they may want to make a robot or a car or solar charger...the only limit is their imagination.

What kits are available?

We have 2 ranges - one for schools and one for home. Schools have an option to purchase a kit for 12 students or 24 students. We have 5 kits available and they have been successful used in classrooms, makerspaces, libraries, after school programs, ESOL departments and more. Home - great to keep children enaged and making at home. Our kits are wonderful as presents, party activities or just to supplement school learning. They are for one child and come with materials and project sheets.

What if I don't know anything about STEM?

The kits were designed to be child friendly and have been tested by kids to ensure they are easy to use. You know when you get a new gadget and you sit there reading the instructions and the kids have worked it out way before you just by getting in and playing around with it. They learn by doing and they will with this too. We do include instruction sheets, supporting videos and project guides to help.

The future is STEM but even if your kids don't want to enter a STEM field they will still be expected to have a new set of skills. Creative thinking, problem solving, learning from failure, working through the design process, collaboration, critical thinking and imagination. This is where these kits shine. Apart from learning new skills such as circuits and engineering principles, it is teaching them the more important skills listed above.
